Quinoa Burger

I have recently discovered an online grocery store called Place of Origin. It is a big regional food marketplace which hosts a few hundreds of unique local food brands. On PlaceofOrigin.in, you can find Indian sweets, dry fruits, chocolates, cakes, biscuits, pickles, masalas, grains, staples and health foods from across India.

Lately I have tried quinoa salads in a few restaurants so I decided to give it a try and prepare quinoa at home. I chose the Whole Grain Quinoa from Organic Farmers Co. I already knew its variation as a salad so I came up with an idea of a quinoa burger. Itโ€™s super healthy, easy and light. Just try it out and you’ll see ๐Ÿ™‚

What quinoa recipes do you know and could recommend?

Preparation time: 1 hour

Serves: 3 big burgers or 6 mini burgers


ยฝ small head purple cabbage, shredded

2 Tablespoons vinegar

1 teaspoon olive oil

3 large garlic clove, minced

1 medium cucumber, shredded

2 Tablespoons chopped fresh dill

1/2 cup plain yogurt

6 medium carrots, shredded

1 cups cooked Whole Grain Quinoa from Organic Farmers Co

2 eggs

2 tablespoons flour

1 teaspoon sweet paprika

1 small chilli, chopped

2 tablespoons sesame seeds

ยฝ cup grated onion

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

salt and pepper

vegetable oil

3 big or 6 small burger buns

Combine cabbage, vinegar and olive oil in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper.

Combine 1 minced garlic cloves, cucumber, mint and yogurt in a bowl and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper.

Combine carrots, quinoa, eggs, sesame seeds, onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, flour, sweet paprika and chilli. Stir well to combine. Season generously with salt and pepper.

Form 6 small or 3 big patties. Heat the oil in a non-stick pan over a medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown, around 5-6 minutes each side.

Serve burger with toasted sesame buns, topped with slaw and tzatziki. Enjoy!
