Taksim at Ansal Plaza

Taksim was the first place I’ve visited in Ansal Plaza. I cross next to it almost every day but never had time to stop by so was excited about finally setting up a date to visit it. Taksim is spread over 3 floors, starting from the ground floor. The entrance is from the main street so you definitely won’t have trouble finding it. There’s a lovely outdoor area where you can relax and enjoy shisha. Inside there’s a high ceiling above the first floor where the DJ station is located. There are a few interesting design elements inside like lamp made out of broken white plates or a wall decorated with white kitchen utensils.

Taksim has a pretty big range of beverages to choose so it’s a good place to choose if you wanna hang out over a drink. They made me leave with a pretty mixed opinion as some of them were nice and some not. Virgin Mary was properly prepared. Bloody Orange was strong as a shot, not a cocktail. Sporty Lemonade and Oreo Shake were good but Summer Cyclist was way too sweet. So sweet that it was impossible to drink it. Maybe because a glass was completely filled with ice so it didn’t leave much space for a juice or soda after they poured syroup(s). Last thing is that actually all of my drinks were full of ice – it’s not summer yet and even if it was it’s definitely too much.

Moving on to food. Unfortunately me and other people I talked to, left quite disappointed. It actually started pretty good with Angry Chicken Pasta and Pasta Vodka Tomato Sauce. Sadly it came out that these were the best dishes of the evening and later it was only good or bad. Thai Basil Chicken was one of the spiciest things I have ever eaten. Even though chicken was cooked nicely, I simply couldn’t eat more than just a bite. Thai basil fish, Pepper corn cheese roll and American Corn Chop were just good. Maybe if they were served with a bigger range of dips would make them a bit more interesting. Veg Green Thai Curry and Balti Gosht were so salty I couldn’t actually taste anything. At the end I’ve tried Blue Berry Cheese Cake and Banoffee Pie. They were good but I can’t say that I’ve never had better ones.
